Servings: 90 porzioni
- 400 gr Flour approximately 3 cups
- 120 gr Butter cut into pieces
- 60 gr Cheddar cheese grated
- 90 gr Parmesan cheese grated (for garnish)
- 1 nr Egg beaten
- 50 ml Oil
- 50 ml Milk
- 25 gr Fresh yeast or 2 1/4 teaspoons dry yeast
- 5 gr Sugar 1 teaspoon
- 5 gr Salt 1 teaspoon
- q.b. Sesame or flax seeds optional

In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, sugar, and, if desired, buckwheat flour.
Add the chopped butter and, using a pastry cutter or fork, work the butter until the mixture resembles crumbs.
Add grated cheddar cheese and mix quickly to combine.
In another bowl, beat the egg with the oil. Dissolve the yeast in the milk and add to the egg mixture.
Pour the liquid mixture into the bowl of flour and knead until a smooth dough forms that pulls away from the edges.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rest in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours to activate the yeast.
Preheat oven to 180°C. Divide the dough into two parts. Roll one part out on a baking sheet lined with parchment, forming a rectangle.
Brush the surface with beaten egg and sprinkle with grated Parmesan.
Use a knife to cut the dough into strips 1 cm wide and 15 cm long.
Bake: Place in the oven for about 18-20 minutes, until the sticks are golden. Repeat with the other half of the dough.
Tips for customizing your cheese sticks
If you want to make your cheese sticks even more special, here are some ideas to personalize them:
- Different cheeses: try replacing the cheddar with other cheeses like mozzarella, gouda, or fontina for a unique flavor.
- Spices and herbs: add dried herbs like oregano, rosemary, or thyme to the dough for an aromatic touch.
- Seeds and nuts: sprinkle the surface with sesame seeds, poppy seeds, or chopped nuts for extra crunch.
- Dipping sauces: serve the sticks with sauces like tomato sauce, pesto, or Greek yogurt for a perfect pairing.
