WSC – International Wine and Spirit Competition – is one of the historical wine competitions. Established in 1969, it is based on the concept of having wines from a territory tasted by those who know that land, to achieve results that are as objective as possible. La Montina presented two Franciacortas for the IWSC tastings, both awarded medals: Franciacorta Quor 2910 – 88 points – Bronze Medal; Franciacorta Millesimato Brut 2011 – 95 points – Gold Medal.
The Bronze Medal is an excellent result for the new wine in the La Montina range, Franciacorta Quor2910, which was introduced to the market only last December. It is a wine that spent 2910 days on the lees, but surprises with its preserved fresh drinkability.
Franciacorta Millesimato Brut 2011, awarded 95 points, is the wine that most convinced the IWSC judges.

It is a enveloping wine that offers intense aromas of yellow-fleshed fruit, but also a slight toasting on the nose and palate. The color is golden, with a fine and persistent perlage. It is a Franciacorta ready to be tasted and appreciated even paired with elaborate and succulent dishes. Its label is golden, just like the medal it received.
Other very positive results for La Montina came from tastings conducted for other industry guides: Prosit and Decanter. Decanter particularly appreciates Franciacorta Satèn, awarding it 86 points and a bronze medal.
Prosit instead awards La Montina Riserva Baiana 2008 with two prosit and 89 points.
La Montina’s Franciacortas are distributed in Italy by the company Rinaldi 1957, but they can also be purchased online on the winery’s e-commerce. For those who want to taste them directly at the winery, La Montina is open every day and organizes daily guided tour visits.
Tenute La Montina of Monticelli Brusati
The Tenute La Montina of Monticelli Brusati are among the historic wineries of Franciacorta. The company’s vineyards extend over a planted area of about 72 hectares, spread across 7 municipalities of Franciacorta. The vineyards, predominantly hillside, are planted on calcareous and silt-clay soils with a yield of about 100 quintals per hectare and a density of 5,400/7,000 vines per hectare. The winery covers 7,450 m² underground, which guarantees the smallest possible temperature variation throughout the year (around 13°-16°) and an optimal condition for the proper maturation of Franciacorta. The average production is 380,000 bottles per year.
