In Umbria, olive mills are increasingly becoming multifunctional places, sites for hospitality as well as for production; many are beautiful to visit, attentive to design, while others maintain a warm and traditional spirit; they have become places where, all year round, you can often enjoy experiences connected to the knowledge ofextra virgin olive oil and the region, experiences that find their peak during Frantoi Aperti as olives are harvested and pressed.

A series of exclusive experiences and initiatives are being offered by Frantoi Aperti, especially this year, to celebrate the work carried out by farmers despite the difficulties brought by the pandemic last spring. While everything else was on hold, nature continued its course with flowering in spring, olives born in the summer now reaching maturity, and which the producers will wisely harvest and press in their mills to produce the extra virgin olive oil, an Umbrian excellence.

Frantoi Aperti Weekends

There are six Frantoi Aperti weekends in Umbria, devoted to nature, art, and the promotion of the olive-growing landscape. These charming locations, where social distancing comes naturally, will open their doors, allowing visitors to explore medieval villages, olive mills, olive groves, and historic homes, which will once again take center stage in an event that has become a benchmark for the olive oil tourism and national food and wine sector.

The path of promotion and discovery of Umbria’s territory proposed by the Strada dell’Dop Umbria Extra Virgin Olive Oil with Frantoi Aperti will also be possible thanks to scheduled activities in charming locations, usually closed to the public, such as ancient villas, abbeys among olive trees, and small abandoned churches. These prestigious places will host food and wine, artistic, musical, cultural, and nature-themed experiences.

Thanks to the solid partnership with the Strade dei Vini dell’Umbria, Frantoi Aperti will also be an opportunity to take part in tasting panels of Doc, Docg, and IGT Umbrian wines, right in their production territories.
