Region Lana in South Tyrol is a territory boasting several gastronomic excellences, so much so that it can be defined as a gourmet destination. There are many restaurants that offer truly unique experiences for the palate, as well as many young chefs who, thanks to passion, creativity, and top-quality zero-kilometer products, serve exquisite dishes that engage multiple senses beyond taste.
Moreover, alongside the gourmet offerings, there are restaurants and taverns featuring traditional South Tyrolean cuisine, often revisited with Mediterranean ingredients and flavors.
Every foodie can find the right place for themselves in the Lana Region. A very interesting proposal from the Lana and Surroundings Tourist Association to get to know Lana from a gastronomic perspective are the Gourmet-Walks organized by the Sissi Tours Association.
Gourmet-Walk
Every Tuesday, from the month of June 2021 until October 26th, these walks take place to discover Lana, its gastronomic specialties, its typical places, and also the people who live there.
The Gourmet-Walks start at 10 from the Giardino dei Cappuccini di Lana and during a pleasant walk of about 3 hours (just over 2 kilometers on flat ground), participants are guided to discover places appreciated by food lovers, such as Sapple, a meeting point for those who are curious, appreciate high quality, and love unique products. At Sapple, an extra virgin olive oil tasting is offered, comparing the flavor of a common oil with that of a specially selected oil for its qualities.
Another stop on the Gourmet-Walks is the Holzner butcher shop, which includes a chat with Alexander, the owner, a forward-thinking butcher advocating ethical, respectful, and holistic meat consumption. Of course, a tasting of Holzner-produced speck without preservatives, compared to one with preservatives, is not to be missed.

The walk continues with a visit to the Ausserpfefferlehen Hof vineyard by Roland Gamper to learn about an example of organic farming activity in Lana, a municipality very famous for apple growing. At the end, a wine and apple juice tasting together with the farmhouse producer.
The walk ends at the Ristorante Stadele which welcomes participants with a cheese tasting accompanied by their tasty mustards. Depending on the day and season, the destinations of the Gourmet-Walks may vary, involving new establishments with particular products.
The cost to participate in a Gourmet-Walk is €49 per person.
