Genuine, nutritious, and versatile, the typical semi-hard cheese produced in Friuli Venezia Giulia and part of Veneto, in addition to being ideal at any time of the day, is perfect both at the table and in the kitchen. Excellent at all ages due to its digestibility and nutritional boost of proteins and vitamins, it is also ideal for those with intolerances thanks to being naturally lactose-free.

A cheese, in its different varieties, that reflects the deep taste of its land of origin, such as the “Mountain Product” from Malga Montasio: a true culinary heritage that stands apart from standardized flavors; a cheese made only with fresh milk that is collected, processed, and aged for at least 60 days, where the entire production chain – from the cows’ feeding, to milking, up to processing and aging – takes place strictly in the mountain territory. A natural food with a unique flavor, whose nutritional and organoleptic properties are strongly influenced by the cows’ diet, as in summer they are free to graze.

The Montasio Plateau represents the largest area in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region devoted to summer pasturing, so much so that from June to mid-September it hosts about 250 animals, coming from 40 breeders residing in 25 different municipalities of Friuli. Thanks to this habitat, the cheese becomes a natural expression of the territory, part of the local culture. An unbreakable bond that is celebrated every year in Malga Montasio with the festival of ‘monticazione’, which symbolically marks the end of the mountain grazing season for the cows brought up to the Montasio plateau in June. Here at Malga Montasio, one of the best mountain cheeses in Italy is produced.

And further proof of the utmost respect for the land, animals, and humans also comes from the producers of Montasio Organic, a product made from organic farming that uses only natural substances and fertilizers. Available in four different aging stages, it can be purchased in the best gourmet shops, large retail centers, and also directly online.

The Montasio PDO can also be enjoyed in its Snack size: a portion packed in a 25-gram piece, pocket-sized and always handy. This is an innovation both in product and service, designed to offer ease of consumption but above all quality and wholesomeness.
