We often blame ourselves for the extra pounds gained during all the holiday parties or summer vacations. Here are a few little secrets.

Nutrition

The secret is to eat regularly every day without ever giving up fruit and vegetables, drink plenty of water, and avoid drinks with excessive amounts of sugars and calories. Avoid giving in to temptations of overly “indulgent” snacks, especially after dinner when you relax; a few biscuits or a low-fat ice cream are ideal. All this doesn’t mean you have to give up all your favorite foods, the important thing is moderation: small quantities, rationed over time. And then have more small meals during the day. A snack at mid-morning and in the afternoon is enough. The important thing is to eat little and more often throughout the day so as to keep the metabolism engaged.

A good rest

It often happens that we rest in a very irregular way. There are days when we sleep very little, others too much. It is well known, in fact, that good rest requires at least 8 hours, an excessively hectic life could lead to reduced sleep or in any case “poor quality” sleep. In these cases, the risks for our physical condition are evident: poor sleep causes an increase in cortisol levels, the stress hormone, which in turn causes an increase in body weight. So avoid leading too hectic or stressful lives; take advantage of rest days to possibly make up for lost sleep and try to relax, maybe with a nice hot bath.

Get help from technology

Despite what one might think, distrust or prejudice, there are many home appliances today that can help us maintain a good shape. Our advice is to rely on at least one of these:

Regularly keeping our weight under control is absolutely essential and helps us succeed in losing excess pounds. However, weighing yourself should not become an obsession. As many experts suggest, we recommend that you weigh yourself at most once a week. Don’t let the daily anxiety of the scale catch you off guard; weight fluctuations throughout the day can depend on many factors not strictly related to the diet we are following. In such cases, the scale becomes more a source of demotivation than a support!
