The dedicated portal includes guided tastings, restaurants and b&b, nature excursions, e-bike trips, border cooking classes, and yoga lessons in the winery.

13 entities, 1 single portal
The new portal ENJOY PREPOTTO is the result of the spontaneous union of 13 entities including wineries, agritourisms, and b&b’s, which together decided to join forces to bring new energy to the Prepotto territory. The portal’s offer includes a rich range of activities and tourist experiences throughout the year, organized into 6 different categories: tastings and winery visits, guided excursions, cooking classes, e-bike tours, yoga and meditation courses, cultural events.

“Our mission is to offer people an authentic and distinctive hospitality, enhancing a unique border place whose history permeates all its elements: nature, culture, cuisine. A place where rhythms slow down and nature invites embracing a more genuine lifestyle,” explains Caterina Cossio of Agriturismo Scribano, one of the project promoters. “The idea arose from the desire to collect and unite all the opportunities offered by this special territory and our companies, creating a single marketplace through which it is possible to freely plan a weekend or even just an afternoon of leisure marked by relaxation, taste, and fun,” adds Riccardo Caliari of Spolert Winery.

A small corner of paradise, nestled in the hills
Surrounded by rivers, mountains, and lush woods, Prepotto is a small municipality in the province of Udine, located in the far northeast of Italy, bordering Slovenia for 15 km. Situated 6 kilometers from Cividale and 25 from Udine, this border town is a very popular natural destination for passionate hikers and cycle tourists from all over Europe. Here intersect three international trails crossing Friuli-Venezia Giulia (the Cammino Celeste, the Alpe Adria Trail, and the Via Alpina). At 600 meters altitude rises Castelmonte, one of the oldest Marian sanctuaries in northeast Italy, and among the gentle terraced hills flows the Judrio, a border river separating Italy from Slovenia whose valley offers a continuously evolving natural spectacle thanks to the richness of its flora and fauna.

The homeland of Schioppettino from Prepotto and Cialla
A territory dedicated to vine cultivation since ancient times, Prepotto’s flagship is the Schioppettino of Prepotto and Cialla, born precisely in the Judrio valley and produced exclusively in this area. The Schioppettino di Prepotto e Cialla is one of the most prestigious native red grape varieties of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and is a peculiar variety of the homonymous subzone in the DOC Friuli Colli Orientali. The soils made of Eocene marl (ponca) and the microclimates created by valleys and hills characterize the wine produced here, making it truly unique. “The production of Schioppettino is indissolubly linked to the tradition of this place,” explains Cossio. “Not only because almost all the local wineries have been producing it for decades, but also because it is the wine that best pairs with the typical dishes of our border cuisine, characterized by influences and contaminations deriving especially from the Friulian, Slavic, and Austro-Hungarian gastronomic traditions.”

The ENJOY PREPOTTO business network
Currently made up of 13 local entities, ENJOY PREPOTTO looks to the future and aims to expand its network. “We are the result of a spontaneous movement and our doors are open to any activity able to enrich the portal’s service offer,” concludes Caliari. The current companies part of the initiative are: Tinello di San Urbano, Scribano, L’Osteria di… Delizie e Curiosità, Vigna Lenuzza, Orlando e Didoné, Ronchi di Cialla, Spolert Winery, Vigna Petrussa, Vigna Traverso, Pitticco, Grillo Iole, Vie d’Alt and the naturalist guide Renzo Ferluga. The updated list is consultable and available at www.enjoyprepotto.it. The portal also already offers events planned for the first months of 2023.
