From July 12th to 14th in Medicina, the “Antica Fiera di luglio” (Ancient July Fair) will be celebrated along with the18th edition of “Medicipolla”, a delicious tribute to the Majesty of the Medicina Onion, which for the occasion will be offered in all its varieties across numerous themed menus, where guests can sample dishes such as oven-baked or caramelized stuffed onions, liver, and ‘friggione’ prepared in the Medicina style. During the event, there will also be displays of vintage and modern agricultural machinery, entertainment shows, markets, and specialty foods to taste.
Among the many events, the highlights are: “Cipolla d’autore”, the themed dinner curated by chef Riccardo Facchini, and the 16th Symposium of the Magnificent Brotherhood of the Medicina Onion.
In the typical production area of the Medicina Onion, several varieties are grown, all belonging to three main groups: Golden Onion (excellent for risottos, sautés, sauces, soups, and baking), White Onion (excellent for boiling, minestrone, omelets, delicate sauces and sautés), Red Onion (orgreat raw, alone or in salads, dressings, side dishes, braised dishes, and stews).
