This is the goal of the Italian Street Food Restaurateurs Association.Street Food professionals are ready to take the next step, joining a trade association to defend their interests: from taxation to legislation, from administrative simplification to the creation of events to ensure continuous work.
The growth of the Street Food phenomenon now demands new organizational methods to fully develop the potential of a sector that has grown steadily in recent years, until it was forced to stop due to the coronavirus emergency. With an increasingly passionate audience and an original, quality offer, Street Food is ready to restart: “The idea of the association comes from the fact that during these two long years we were not sufficiently defended or protected by the State, which lumped us together with street vendors despite our needs being so different from theirs. We want to make administrations and institutions understand that we are not privileged competitors of restaurateurs, but professionals who, like them, run a business, have employees, and contribute to the country’s welfare,” declares Alfredo Orofino, president of the Italian Street Food Restaurateurs Association.
Among the primary goals of the Association is to open a dialogue with institutions to define special procedures and rules for the sector. Thanks to this new reality, they also intend to better plan activities and create a structured production chain: “The establishment of an association to protect Street Food operators was a necessity born from a shared will among many sector operators. We must now begin to take our first steps, increase our credibility, and present ourselves to those who do not know us, with the awareness that unity is strength,” concludes Orofino.
