Why this dish is healthy

Radicchio is a vegetable rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that contribute to overall well-being. Thanks to its slightly bitter taste, it stimulates digestion and promotes detoxification of the body. Hazelnuts, besides adding crunch, are a valuable source of good fats and vitamin E, which support heart health. Dates, sweet and nutritious, provide an energy boost and are rich in fiber, excellent for intestinal transit. Finally, feta adds protein and calcium, making this dish not just tasty but also balanced and nutritious.

Why we recommend this recipe

To further enhance the flavor of Christmas radicchio, you can try adding a sprinkle of black pepper or a pinch of chili flakes for a spicy touch. If you prefer a richer salad, consider adding some diced apple or ripe pears, which balance the bitterness of the radicchio with their sweetness. Remember to taste the dressing before pouring it over the salad to find the right balance between vinegar and oil.

Is this recipe kid-friendly?

Preparing Christmas radicchio is a great opportunity to involve children in the kitchen. You can ask them to help wash and dry the radicchio or pit the dates, making the process fun and educational. Explain the importance of the ingredients, highlighting the health benefits. To make the dish even more appealing to little ones, you can present the salad creatively, perhaps using fun shapes or bright colors to stimulate their curiosity.

Pairings

This Christmas radicchio lends itself to many pairings. You can serve it as an appetizer with slices of toasted bread or crostini, or as a side dish for meat dishes like roasts or poultry. For a complete meal, pair it with quinoa or farro for a touch of whole grains. Additionally, a light red wine, such as Chianti, can perfectly complement the intense flavors of radicchio and hazelnuts, creating a truly immersive gastronomic experience.

Storage tips

If you have leftover portions of Christmas radicchio, you can store them in the refrigerator in a tightly sealed container for up to 2 days. It is advisable to add feta and dressing only at serving time to maintain the freshness and crunch of the ingredients. If you want to prepare the salad in advance, you can still wash and chop the radicchio and dates, keeping them separated until consumption. This way, you will ensure a dish that is always fresh and tasty.
